Are you ready to get Rocky Mountain ModSM? The 2002 National Barbie® Doll Collector's Convention is here, and we're super excited! We can't wait to climb into the time capsule and go back to the groove-a-delic 1960s! Just like last year, BarbieCollector.com will be attending all the festivities from start to finish, and reporting a wrap-up of the previous day's events each day during the convention on BarbieCollector.com. Bookmark this page and be sure to visit each day during the convention so you can attend from the comfort of your own home!
If you've never been to the Barbie Convention, it's a blast! Here are some of the things you'll get to experience via the website in the coming days:
Meet others who share your love for Barbie® doll.
This year's convention is hosted by The Fashion Doll Club of the Rockies. It's their first time hosting a convention, and we're sure it's going to be smashing, baby! Convention co-chairs Shantel Ballard and Debbie Baker are thrilled to be sharing this experience with everyone, and look forward to putting on a great non-stop party!

Learn new ways to have fun with Barbie® in the workshops.
The convention workshops are a great place to learn how to make the most of your Barbie collection! This year's workshops will teach you how to:
- Make mod boots and belts.
- Create miniatures to display with your Barbie dolls.
- Re-root and style your mod Barbie doll's hair.
- Restore dolls that have been broken and/or damaged.
- Make fashion doll fabric origami.
We'll be sure to feature some of the wonderful things that are made during these fabulous workshops so you can see them up close!
The sensational sales room and room shopping.
Get a peek at the thousands of Barbie dolls available for purchase in the sales room at the convention or in the hotel rooms open for room shopping! From rare vintage dolls and outfits to stuff from the 70s and even modern collector dolls or OOAK designer dolls, there's definitely something for everyone!
See all the fabulous costumes from the Fashion Show and the Summer of Love dinner dance.
The fashion show and dinner dance are always a hoot! You won't believe the amount of time and energy collectors put into designing their costumes for the catwalk and the party on Friday night. Last year we were blown away by how fabulous everyone looked! We can't wait to show you all of the marvelous mod fashions that will grace the runway and the Summer of Love dinner dance this year.
Mattel Program
In case you weren't aware, Mattel doesn't sponsor the convention. We're invited guests and it's our honor to attend. This year, Mattel has planned a very special program on Thursday evening full of lots of surprises! Check the site on Friday June 7th to find out what they are!
Competition
Want to see a pristine Ponytail Barbie®? What about a Twist N' Turn® Barbie® in a hard to find outfit? Or even a MIB Ken® doll? The competition is a great way for collectors to share their rare finds. As a spectator, it's truly inspiring to peruse the phenomenal entries and see the dolls up close. Prizes are given out to the best dolls in each category, so check the site to see which ones win.
That about covers it. Hope to see you at the convention, but if you can't make it, log on to BarbieCollector.com to share in the fun from the comfort of your own home. Until then, it's Denver or bust!
