Living in Los Angeles definitely has its perks — the weather, the culture, and the occasional celebrity sighting. One of my more memorable, Wizard of Oz-related encounters occurred a few years ago at a neighborhood supermarket…

I love new experiences. In the past year alone, I’ve ruled a race of aliens from beyond the farthest galaxy, performed a passionate ballroom routine, and proudly represented District 12 with my archery skills. Oh, and I also became a vampire! What can I say? It’s been a busy year, and with Africa calling to me now, I’ll be globetrotting again before long.

Who doesn’t dream of taking a fabulous vacation, full of adventure, intrigue, and whirlwind romance? This idea of the ultimate bon voyage inspired designer Robert Best while expanding the “Atelier” theme for the 2013 Barbie® Fashion Model Collection.
Nothing signals the end of winter and the launch of a new season better than a fashion catalog! As a collector, I always look forward to the Barbie® Collector Spring issue, and I was pleasantly surprised this year by an all-new page-turner!
This is the time of year when I start fantasizing about lounging about somewhere tropical, preferably poolside! Some sunblock and a pitcher of lemonade and I’m good to go! I imagine Barbie® is also due for some serious R & R — it’s definitely vacay time, especially after her exciting 2012 presidential campaign. All she has to do is pick the perfect paradise.
Barbie Collector’s new White Diamonds Elizabeth Taylor Silkstone® doll, dazzling in her white dress, reminds me of working with the actress during the summer of ‘86. I was a production coordinator for Liberty Weekend, a four-day celebration of the restoration and centenary of the Statue of Liberty.
I have a favorite childhood memory from my days at The English School of Vienna, where the British staff would, as a daily custom, serve afternoon tea in lieu of lunch. Different from high tea, afternoon tea consists of a light meal served outdoors, preferably in a garden setting. While developing an appreciation for this tasty meal break, I made another discovery — Barbie® doll also enjoys sipping tea in the afternoon!
She was a legend in her own time, and sparked a legacy that continues to affect the lives of millions. How do you capture the essence of Elizabeth Taylor – actress, businesswoman, activist – in creations like Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds Doll and Elizabeth Taylor Violet Eyes Doll?
In honor of their release, the Elizabeth Taylor Trust shared their thoughts about Miss Taylor, the dolls, and her lasting cultural and humanitarian impact.
