Sydney Opera House Barbie® Debuts At Australia Day

Ever the jet setter, Barbie® hopped a plane for Australia recently to celebrate Australia Day on January 17 in style.

There, Sydney Opera House Barbie® doll caused a flashbulb frenzy when the doll and fashion were recreated on a human scale, modeled by Brisbane born model Eliza Humble. Styled in a couture fitted bodice inspired by Jorn Utzon’s famous sails and complete with a billowing skirt that reflects the blue of Sydney harbour, Eliza posed for photos with Barbie and shared how she loved wearing Barbie’s signature gown, designed by Linda Kyaw and recreated for the occasion by couturier Alex Perry.

Alex Perry said of the launch, “I am thrilled to be collaborating with Mattel on this project. It is such a momentous venture and combines two classic and enduring icons – Barbie® and the Sydney Opera House.”

50 Sydney Opera House Barbie® dolls posed with Eliza on the famous Opera House steps – a perfect tribute to Australia Day AND Barbie!

Sydney Opera House Barbie® is the fourth doll in the Dolls of the World® Landmark Collection that brings world-famous landmarks stunningly to life.
